Aveleda Restaurant, Oporto, Portugal

Set in the historic building of Alfandega do Porto, the Aveleda restaurant at The Oporto Show 2008 benefited from stunning original features including dramatically high ceilings and grand, oversized doors and windows allowing the Porto sun to spill across the space. Designer, Paulo Lobo created a contemporary dining room using natural materials to complement the wood and stone features present in the building. The backdrop for the space was formed from large wooden shipping pallets stacked and intersected to recall the contours of a cityscape. Upon the stone floor rested mirrored café tables, like reflective ponds upon which cutlery floated. Fifty Bergere chairs and eight Bergere Sofas from the Autoban Built By De La Espada range helped define the natural, contemporary aesthetic while providing relaxed seating for guests. Tulip lamps from the range punctuated the space, illuminating select areas of the sun soaked room.

The Vilalara Thalassa Resort, Algarve, Portugal

The Vilalara Thalassa Resort is an exclusive haven in Algarve, Portugal, situated on the Praia das Gaivotas cliff overlooking the sea. A 12-hectare area consisting mainly of magnificent gardens, this resort also includes six outdoor pools of fresh and sea water and the Thalassotherapy and Spa Center, the first in Portugal and one of the most respected in the world. The B&G restaurant, located on the cliff top with a view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, features Autoban's Deer chair in the dining room to offer guests comfort while dining on Portuguese cuisine.
