Molecule / Furniture + Design prototype from BoxHaus

The space for MOLECULE / Furniture + Design is finally completed. The store has been opened since December 10th, 2010.

The BoxHaus/Molecule project is the first cargo container project in Santa Fe, NM.

The building project is sustainable, as the shell is composed of 11 High Cube containers (40' long x 9.6 high) 100% recycled, and uses 0% wood with minimal site waste also using the recycled container wall cutouts for building skirts.

Molecule will reduce its energy costs through an Energy Star rated heating and cooling system. Daylighting considerations are achieved with the use of translucent white polycarbonate panels for vertical architectural applications as well as skylights.

Molecule at the Lower Railyard also includes a water-harvesting system for irrigation and a landscaping design using local grasses and trees. Molecule will also be part of the local Santa Fe low-flow toilet program.

Molecule the store will carry some green conscious products and will adopt a socially responsible program where a percentage of sales will go to environmental, social or humanitarian partners.

Showroom Availability

Molecule's showroom may be available to the local design community for showcasing compatible work, as well as providing rented space for lectures and small design events and other culturally compatible activities. Please, write for details.

Boxhaus

The BoxHaus architectural design is ecologically smart. The US imports more of the containers than it exports, so the abundant supply of these insulated and waterproofed mega-Lego building blocks, structurally sound and relatively inexpensive, have attracted attention here at home as well as in Europe and Japan for the development of creative permanent and portable Award-winning architectural projects.
