Tom Dixon Give Away and Design Santa Fe-Design Crawl 2011
We showcased new Tom Dixon products and gave away a limited number of Extremism Books and Fluoro Bags. Some of the products were Slab Table and Slab Chair in black, as well as Beat Lights, Etch Lights and the new Void Lamps. Tom Dixon among other things, is known for his exploration of industrial processes. For example Etch Lights are made by employing a process used to produce electronic parts, the method allows for detailed patterns to be cut directly onto the metal, creating a mass of intricate shadows when lit.
Feel free to stop by to take a look.
As part of the Design Santa Fe – Dialogue event, some amazing designers and speakers offered charged and inspired insights about the work they’ve recently been involved with. Susan Szenasy, Editor in Chief of METROPOLIS Magazine and moderator, opened a question and answer discussion format with Clarence Sinclair, cofounder of Architecture for Humanity and 2006 TED award winner. Textile designer Susan Lyons was the second speaker. The theme title was “Change Makers”, and explored the question of change in architecture specifically concerned with natural disasters and population displacement, as well as new technologies in materials and industrial processes. I left the lecture energized and excited, ready to sign up!!
